Some 5 years ago, had I gone to this aquarium, I would have spent hours pouring over the text near the displays, learning about the creatures within. I would have stared at pictures of fish and tried to match the names to the dudes I saw swimming behind the glass.
Now? Not so much. Now, my husband and I race from one tank to the next trying to find bright, colorful fish to hold the babies' attention while moving us forward quickly enough for them to not get bored. Now, we shout elatedly across the section, "Honey, I found Nemo!" only to have the reply, "Cool, I found Dory and Gill!" shouted back.
Indeed. I was probably a little too excited to find the real-life counterparts to the characters in one of my favorite Pixar movies. Oh well. It's not like I also used this line: "Jack, look, you can TOUCH these fish!" as I was plunging my own hand into the tank, unabashedly using the guise of "see, I'll show you how to do it first" to justify my gleeful petting of various rays and sturgeon.
Oh, and don't even get me started on the butterfly room...
Yeah, you know you're a mom when you find yourself enjoying the same things in the same ways as your kiddos... when you realize that having children brings out the child in you.
It rocks.
Speaking of rocking, go check out Arizona Mamma's blog for lots more Wednesday fun!

Having kids has definitely made the world so much more colorful and fun!! I love seeing things through their eyes!! Simply delicious.
Oh I think you rock!
How on earth did you get those last pictures to be so clear through glass?
I love Nemo:) It was one of Addyson's favorites for a stretch and therefore was watched over and over and over. You know, because I am a good mom...and I allow that sort of thing.
Awwwww...so true! Miss you 5!
It DOES rock! There are so many things that I find myself just as excited as my kids. Love it!
That is sooooo funny. Matt and I do the same thing at our zoo (there is a pretty neat aquarium section there). Elizabeth makes me nervous whenever she touches the sharks though. Beautiful waterworld pictures:)
I feel the exact same way!! We are taking our son to Disneyland for the first time in a couple of weeks and I haven't been this excited for anything in I don't know how long!
Having your kids in tow at a museum, zoo, or aquarium sure changes how you see the exhibits, doesn't it? I laughed about the Nemo fish...reminded me of when my son was young and Lion King was the "big" thing. Of course, when we went to the zoo and saw the meerkats, hyena....well, you get it.
Great pics, too...so clear!
