Twilight...

... and all the associated stuff - the people, movies, vampire-obsessed teens...

I don't get it.

It just baffles me.

i agree! the books are poorly written and the movies poorly acted. i think its a sad commentary on what our country's become and what constitutes good entertainment.

Didn't read the book and yes, the acting is poor...but still the romance of it...*swoon*. Hahahaha. But yeah, as pretty as R.Patz is...that acting was pretty bad. Ditto for the others.

Ok, I have to say I enjoyed the books. I think the reason I enjoyed the books so much was because I was going through a divorce at the time and the idea of this man who loves you so much and wants to protect you, really spoke to me.
I think beyond that people are a little nuts about it. I don't understand the craze.

Sonora, I didn't read them, and the movie wasn't unwatchable... I mean, I don't understand the total and complete obsession... not that I don't like them myself or dislike people who do :-) I just don't get what about them has generated such a huge cult following! Maybe it is just the idea of perfect romance... Hahaha, it's just so funny to me! Especially when the obsessive ones are wee little teeney boppers who don't know what love is, let alone eternal true love ;-)

Vampires are sexy.

The books are a good read because they're easy to read, regardless of being written and edited poorly.

As for the movies, there are certain actors that stand out for me and make it all worthwhile.

I loved the books. I agree that the first movie was poorly done. The second was a little better.

I agree that the psycho craze following it is way extreme. I also think that it's inappropriate for the majority of those young girls, particularly the fourth book. I definitely don't want my 12-year-old girl (or especially any younger) reading that book!

I agree....the movie wasn't great, and I, too, do not understand how the tweeny-boppers seem to think they know what true everlasting love it...they just love the idea of love, and I guess there's nothing too bad about that.... Regardless, I rented the flick from RedBox and am SO glad I only wasted $1 on it instead of a $30 movie date at the theater. And that's a whole OTHER rant....why does it cost the same to go to the movies that it does to get a nice dinner out?!?! SHEESH!

LOVED the books, because they were such an easy, enjoyable read. The teeny-boppers thrive on a good love story so I think that is where the hype comes from....(Coming from the Aunt of 4 nieces age 3-16!) And movies are never as good as the books! It was fun for me to read something so odd! ;)

Ok, did you turn off your email thing? No big deal...I'll just tell you here how awesome that would be if you ended up in Arizona. I'm already planning our lives together...or not. I hope you know that was my strange attempt at stalker humor. Really, it would be the best though to know you in real life.

I'll even forgive your Twilight comment(Said tongue in cheek). Because seriously...vampires are so not my thing. BUT, my sister in law read them and then pushed them onto me. I acquiesced...and then I devoured all four in about two weeks. The books are far and away better than the movie. I liked them just a little ;)

That is sick Melissa! haha...But I guess it goes along side with the people killing themselves after seeing Avatar because they are so depressed that Earth is not the same! Or the crazy Trekkies who act out crap and wait in lines to see the same movies over and over again...And don't forget the Rocky Horror Picture show people too! And the wannabe Princess Leias! hahahahahah....Ok hopefully I didn't offend too many people....It's all fun for them and I guess their escape from reality...Creepy.

Arizona Mama, I know her in real life and unfortunately had to move a couple months ago. She is as funny/crazy/endearing as you think, if not more....And her rants at stupid people/landlords/thugs/creeps are something out of a movie! I love her a ton, and really miss her....And as amazingly gorgeous as she is, you'd seriously want to eat the children! ;)Love you Shuttles.

I don't get the hype. AT.ALL. I haven't read the books and I made the colossal mistake of watching the first movie and it was just wretched.
